The inaugural St. Louis Jingle Jam Presented by Optical Expressions tips off tonight at St. Louis area gyms. The action gets underway beginning at 5:30pm at Fox High School, Principia, Lindbergh, MICDS, Marquette, Zion Lutheran and Kirkwood High School.
Teams were seeded by the coaches participating in the respective brackets. The #1 seed in each bracket will square off against the #8 seed in first round action tonight. The #2 seed will play #7, #3 vs. #6 and finally the #4 seed will face the #5 seed.
Several area powerhouses will be on display tonight, including the 5th grade boys team from Kirkwood. This group is arguably the best 5th grade feeder team in the St. Louis area in many years. The Pioneer Elite 5th Boys play at 7:15pm at Kirkwood Holley Court #1 against Francis Howell.
A really strong 6th grade team from Ft. Zumwalt South tips off their Jingle Jam against an up and coming team from Liberty High School at 7:15pm at Principia Girls Gym.
Ft. Zumwalt South found the top line in the 8th Boys Red bracket as well and will play St. Charles West at MICDS Court #3 at 8:15pm. The entire 8th Boys Red bracket features teams ranked 8, 9 or 10 per the coaches self ranking. Each of the first round games in the 8th Boys Red bracket take place at MICDS tonight, beginning at 5:30pm.
One of the most tightly contested brackets might end up being the 5th Girls White bracket. Three teams were within decimal points of earning the top seed with Eureka ending up with the #1 seed. The Lady Bombers from Liberty High School grabbed the #2 seed and will face Parkway South at Lindbergh High School in round 1. A very good group from Rockwood Summit filled the 3 seed and will play Clayton at 5:30pm at Lindbergh Gym 2.
Admission for tonight’s games is $2.00 per adult, $1.00 for children ages (8-14). Children under the age of 8 are free. Coaches and players are complimentary.
