It’s go time for the 2017 St. Louis Jingle Jam Presented by Johnny Mac’s Sporting Goods.
Feeder teams throughout the St. Louis area and beyond will be gathering over the next three nights to crown 2017 St. Louis Jingle Jam Champions.
The action gets underway beginning at 5:30pm with teams grade 4 thru 8 participating.
As is always the case, the brackets are highly competitive with several defending champions returning to take another shot at Jingle Jam glory.
It’s always great to see the new crop of feeder teams each year as the 4th graders begin what, for many, will be five years of competing in the annual Jingle Jam. Eureka received the #1 seed in the 4th Red Bracket per the Coaches, with Liberty Red receiving the #2 seed. A match up to watch in round 1 of the 4th Red bracket is the Ft. Zumwalt West (#4) vs. Ladue (#5) and always tough Ft. Zumwalt South (#3) vs. Ladue – Margraf (#6).
The 5th Red bracket will also be quite competitive with a past champion in the mix as Rockwood Summit makes the jump from the White bracket to the Red bracket after capturing the White bracket title last year. Parkway West – Kuehl earned the top seed with St. Dominic grabbing the #2 slot. Ft. Zumwalt West is bringing double the trouble in this bracket with teams grabbing the #3 and #4 seeds. Both FZW teams are capable of making a deep run in the tournament.
St. Dominic is showcasing a deep 5th grade program having grabbed the #2 seed in the Red bracket and the top line in the 5th White bracket. Dominic will play Francis Howell North in their opening round game in the 5th White Bracket and get the winner of Liberty White (#4) vs. Oakville (#5). Parkway South grabbed the #2 seed and will play Francis Howell on Tuesday night at Principia Boys Gym.
The 6th Red division may prove to be the most competitive bracket of the 2017 Jingle Jam. Kirkwood and Ladue earned the top two seeds (#1 and #2 respectively). Kirkwood will draw St. Charles West in the opening round and Ladue will square off with Francis Howell. A Suburban Conference rivalry match up between Marquette (#4) and Eureka (#5) will take place at Marquette on opening night with Liberty traveling to MICDS to take on Webster Groves to complete round 1.
Kirkwood grabbed another top seed in the 2017 Jingle Jam in the 7th Red division and will play Francis Howell at Kirkwood High School. If the 6th Red division isn’t the most competitive bracket, the7th Red division is. Marquette (#2) will play a very talented St. Dominic team in round one with the winner getting either Ft. Zumwalt West or Eureka. Parkway West – Kuehl will face Liberty Red in the opening round. These two teams played a one point game just over a week ago so this should be a tightly contested 4 v 5 seed match up.
The 2016 7th Grade Red champion is back to defend their title and has earned the #1 seed in the 8th Red bracket. Ft. Zumwalt South (#1 seed) will play Parkway West to start their journey towards another title. Ft. Zumwalt South will be challenged by a solid Westminster team (#2 seed), Christian Middle (#3 seed) and could see a good test in their second round game where either Eureka (#4) or Webster Groves (#5) will be waiting.
